The Jets and Chicago Blackhawks have both agreed to a trade that will send a package of prospects to Winnipeg, according to a person familiar with the deal.
The Jets’ prospects include forward Connor Hellebuyck, forward Zach Bogosian and defenceman Kyle Connor.
The Blackhawks are expected to include defenceman Brandon Carlo and forwards Andrew Shaw and Travis Konecny.
The two teams will meet in the NHL All-Star Game, and there are no guarantees that a trade will be completed before then.
The Jets are in need of a top-six defenceman, a centre, a goalie, a third-line winger, a defenceman and some forwards.
Winnipeg has been shopping defenceman Jacob Trouba, as well as centre Connor Helrebert.
The Blackhawks are also expected to make moves in the free agent market, including defenceman Bryan Bickell, forward Brandon Saad and defencemen Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook.
